Haveri, April 4, 2024 (Hubli Express News): In a campaign rally held in Rattihalli and other villages within the Hirekerur Assembly constituency, former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency, Basavaraj Bommai, sounded the alarm about the imminent countdown for the state government post-June 4. Bommai expressed concerns over the short tenure of the incumbent government, hinting at the possibility of another snap Assembly election in Karnataka.

Bommai highlighted the dire situation faced by the farming community, attributing it to the ongoing drought conditions plaguing the region. He emphasized the lack of governmental intervention to alleviate the distress of farmers and livestock, lamenting the inadequate response to the crisis. Bommai contrasted this with the swift action taken by the BJP government during the floods last year, where relief funds were swiftly distributed to affected households, enabling them to rebuild their lives.

Drawing a sharp contrast between the BJP’s tenure and the current Congress rule, Bommai criticized the latter for its handling of the drought situation. He accused the Congress government of neglecting farmers’ needs and mismanaging state finances, leading to a depleted treasury and the inability to execute crucial irrigation projects. Bommai also alleged widespread corruption within the administration, further exacerbating the state’s woes.

Highlighting the achievements of the previous BJP government, Bommai lauded initiatives such as the Upper Tunga scheme, which significantly benefited agricultural communities across multiple taluks. He underscored the BJP’s commitment to social justice, citing the party’s efforts to enhance quotas for marginalized communities in education and employment sectors.

Bommai concluded his address by asserting that the BJP stands as a beacon of hope for Karnataka, pledging to continue its legacy of governance excellence and people-centric policies. As the countdown to June 4 looms, Bommai’s remarks underscore the escalating political tensions in the state, hinting at the possibility of seismic shifts on the horizon.
